Repairs & Maintenance

  • Cadzow is a "B-listed" historic property in Hamilton in South Lanarkshire. Mill Architects was appointed to undertake a condition report identifying a requirement for significant restoration work throughout the building.

  • Mill was initially appointed to undertake a condition report highlighting the work required to ensure the long-term safety and sustainability of the building. Mill Architects prioritised the works needed, prepared tender documents and managed the tendering process and project managed all work to completion.

As Advanced Conservation Accredited Architects, Cadzow Parish Church was also able to apply for funding from the Heritage Lottery, securing over £300k to support the restoration project.

  • The initial condition report identified the requirement for the complete strip and re-slate of the roof's steep slopes, replacement of all leadwork, renewal of clay ridge tiles, and stone consolidation following an investigation into stone stability. The steep slopes of the roof created challenges for the slaters, with special measures put in place to ensure the health and safety of those working on the project.
