Jo studied Architecture at Duncan of Jordanstone College Art & Design, Dundee. She completed her Part 3 at University of Edinburgh in 2004 whilst working at Wheeler and Sproson, where she was mentored by our very own Chris.
Jo progressed her career working as a Conservation Accredited Architect for the last 13 years gaining experience at PJMP Architects, A. Campbell Mars, Covell Matthews and Hypostyle Architects where she was an Associate Director there for 12 years.
Just before settling into MILL and going back to her roots with Chris. Jo was awarded RIAS Advanced Conservation Accreditation in 2018. Where her key area of expertise has been in overseeing and managing the restoration and conservation work of numerous traditional and historic properties which have given Jo a great deal of all rounded experience.
Jo is passionate about working on existing buildings, as they offer history and interest and often great significance. She is interested in the past occupiers of these buildings as well as the people who use them or want to use them now.
Whether her brief is to make the building safe, take the building back to its original form or alter it to suit a new form, Jo finds each and every project, small or large, unique and intriguing.
What gets me out of bed:
Knowing that when i go into the office the people I am spending time with are knowledgeable , supportive, hard working and fun. Rarely Do I come home from work without having laughed or learned something new that day. To keep learning, to keep growing skills and to do it in an environment like ours is a true gift.
