A relatively large family, the owners of this property were becoming increasingly aware that with six growing sons they were going to require more living space on the ground floor, in order for them all to be able to socialise together and individually.
Our job was to redesign their downstairs living area to make this possible. With the former dining room and kitchen now sitting in the centre of the plan, we added large rooflights to the roof of the adjacent open-plan kitchen and living space to add more light to the new dinning room and kitchen. This really brought light to the heart of the house.
We sub-divided the room to provide a snug/games room for the boys ,so that the open plan kitchen didn’t become too noisy. We also added a separate utility room.
By moving the living room and kitchen to the rear of the property, the family were given the family flexibility and the space they needed to be able to socialise together.
