Crieff Food Company, Food Hall, Gift Shop & Cafe, James Square, Crieff, Perthshire
In 2016/17 we acted as Consultant Architects for the refurbishment and redevelopment of a former supermarket located within the heart of the Perthshire town of Crieff.
The former supermarket building is split over three separate floor levels. The lower ground floor addresses James Square to the west while the ground floor level provides direct access to the building from the High Street to the north.
The brief for the development required the provision of a Food Hall focusing on the sale of locally sourced food and drink, including delicatessen, butchery and bakery counters alongwith a café.
In order to optimise retail potential the Food Hall is located at ground floor level, maximising exposure to the main High Street. A large central staircase provides direct access to the café and giftware at lower ground level. The direct link between the lower ground level and adjacent James Square provides the opportunity to provide external seating on the square.
The top floor of the building was similarly refurbished and upgraded to provide staff welfare facilities alongwith the provision of a further kitchen for the preparation of food to go and ready meals for sale within the Food Hall.
